Dogs’ ears are controlled by 18 muscles.

If you own a dog, you may have noticed how frequently its ears move. They actually have approximately 18 muscles that control the movement of their ears. These assist them in slightly reorganizing their ears in order to better hear the noises around them and play a critical role in communicating how our dogs are feeling. Because a large portion of a dog’s body language is expressed through their ears, their ears are critical in assisting them in communicating with both humans and other dogs.

Dogs are capable of sniffing while breathing.

Given that dogs rely heavily on their sense of smell to locate food, potential dangers, and friends, it’s not surprising that they sniff frequently. Their noses are designed in such a way that smells can remain in their noses while air moves in and out of their lungs, which allows them to breathe freely while still figuring out what that smell is!
